We are now coming to the end of February which means that St Patrick’s Day is now only around the corner. We have a couple of St Patrick’s Day themed DIY ideas to share with you but we are gonna kick off the traditional Irish holiday with the DIY Pots of Gold decoration. It is easy and fun to make while the kids also love them.
What You Need:
- 5 inch latex balloons
- Scissors
- Mini Cauldrons (You could buy online or you might find in shops as St Patrick’s decorations)
- Gold wrapped candy treats or chocolates
- Gold String/Ribbon
- Green Card
- Gold paint or spray paint (Found in most good art or hobby shops)
- Removable Tape
Instructions:
- In a well-ventilated area, spray paint or brush paint the mini cauldrons gold. Let dry according to instructions on the can.
- Cut small shoe print shapes out of green cardstock. You can make one shape to use as a stencil and then trace that to create a bunch of little leprechaun feet!
- Once you are ready to deliver the surprises, fill the gold pots with (wrapped) candy. Inflate the mini balloons and tie with gold ribbon or string. Tie the other end of the string to the pot’s handle.
- Place your little surprise and use removable tape to adhere the footprints in a pattern leading to (or away from) the pot of gold.
- Leave your mini pots of gold around the house for the little ones to find.
